In 2021, the dissemination of socio-environmental data about the Amazon became a challenge, while the public debate went viral on social media with strong evidence of bots acting.
This was the theme of the workshop Amazon on the internet: data, networks and activism, held within the program of the Brazilian Internet Forum on June 3rd, which included the participation of Jéssica Botelho (Atlas da Notícia), Lorena Lucas Regattieri (Mozilla Foundation and Ecomídia), Marcos Wesley (Coletivo de Comunicação Popular Tapajós de Fato ), Mayra Wapichana (Federal Deputy Joenia Wapichana), Alan Gomes Freitas (Coletivo Proteja Amazônia) and Hemanuel Veras (Faculdade Martha Falcão/Wyden).
The workshop was an opportunity to hear from Amazonian groups, who operate in territories with low connection rates, about strategies for occupying the Internet ecosystem, from the articulation of networks to data production, through digital activism, which denounces violations of human rights. humans in the region.
